ImageRussian side USSR have decided to withdraw from the Intel Challenge Super Cup 8.

Last night Russian team RU USSR issued a statement to Intel Challenge Super Cup officials stating they have decided to withdraw from the tournament. Today it has been confirmed by ICSC 8 admins, resulting in the tournament which is due to start its second group stage this week being reduced to 15 teams.

According to a statement issued by USSR team manager Anton 'Cyclone' Lapshenkov the reason behind the decision is because the USSR organisation as a whole is experiencing structural changes;

"We are not able to participate under the tag of the USSR on this event no more as a number of reasons related to structural changes and the possible departure of some divisions from the organisation"

With USSR now not in the running, group A has been reduced to three teams, SE SK Gaming , SE ESC Gaming swe and FI Excello . The second group stage of the Intel Challenge Super Cup 8 will restart tonight with a game between SE SK Gaming and SE ESC Gaming swe.
