MLG and GSL Enter League Partnership

ImageMLG and GSL announce an historic partnership that will be bringing GSL players to MLG and MLG players to GSL, with all expenses covered by each respective league.

Huge news out of the StarCraft 2 scene. For the first time ever the GSL will be sending players over to MLG as part of a new league sharing agreement!

What this means for those who are wondering is that starting in Columbus in a few short weeks GSL will be sending over 4 of their best players in Hwang Kang 'LosirA' Ho, Choi Ji 'Bomber' Sung, Seong Won 'MMA' Mun, and finally Jae Ho 'Moon' Jang.

This is absolutely huge news for those attending and looking forward to MLG Columbus on all levels as players and their fans look forward to seeing these players compete on American soil for the first time in StarCraft 2 history.

But the news doesn't end there. As part of this new agreement GSL will be providing anyone who can make it to the top three a possibility at a Code S spot with all expenses paid in the next GSL season! What this means is that if someone who does not already have a Code S spot places into the top three at MLG they will be awarded an automatic position into Code S.

This is a huge first for GSL as they have never directly awarded a Code S spot to anyone, instead opting to award only Code A berths for lucky players from outside competition. If anyone is good enough to prove their worth in this upcoming MLG event and push the limits then the possibilities are endless and we'll be seeing more foreign players in Code S!

What's more is that even if a non-code S player does not make it into the top three at MLG, GSL will be awarding the top non-Code S players automatic Code A positions. Combine this with an all expense paid trip to Korea to compete and we're looking to see a lot more foreigner action in the GSL in the not so distant future.

On the MLG side of things for all MLG competitions going forward four players will be invited from the GSL and placed directly into Pool Play. For those wondering what will happen to the existing players in the top 16, MLG is going to change their format a bit to accommodate the addition of those players with those changes to be posted when the final group of participants is announced on Tuesday May 17th.

For this MLG only a fifth Korean player will be chosen to attend this inaugural event, but that player will be chosen through a tournament between Korean team houses that CSN is promoting with all expenses paid to Columbus if you win.

Until that 5th player is announced the pools will remain incomplete, but for those who dreamed of a chance to play against the legendary players of the GSL, go sign up for your competitor pass at MLG right now! This is an opportunity you won't want to miss.
