GT Academy: SK Players back from Salzburg

ImagePatrick 'SK Patohm' Weking and Stefan 'SK Kenny' Jahr belong to the last 10 racers at the GT Academy Austrian/German Finals in Salzburg. Now we look back at the raceweekend at the Red Bull Hangar in Salzburg, Austria.

Out of 13.000 germans and austrians who battled for their place in the finals of the GT Academy 2011, the 20 fastest drivers were invited to the Red Bull Hangar 7 in Salzburg, Austria

All Finalists raced on Suzuka, Laguna Seca and Nürburgring. The races happened throughout the day until 10:30pm CET. At the end of the day, the best 10 racers qualifyed for the Finals on saturday. The top 20 was determined in a online tournament and under the TOP20 are 3 SK Gaming racers. DE Patrick 'Patohm' Weking, DE Stefan 'Kenny' Jahr and DE Tobias 'boMbaY' Hoffmann.

Day 1: GT5 Tourney of the Top 20

After 4 hours 3 rounds DE Patrick 'Patohm' Weking placed first and reached the 2nd final on saturday.

DE Stefan 'Kenny' Jahr and DE Tobias 'boMbaY' Hoffmann had to race against each other for the last seat. Our both SK racing drivers have provided a thrilling duel in a Splitscreen-Shootout on Indianapolis.Stefan 'Kenny' Jahr won the very close race with only 0.035-second lead and also qualified for the 2nd day!

So around 10:30pm the 10 finalists were set in stone and while on friday was all about virtual racing saturday will be a hard day for them proofing not only their driving skills on PlayStation 3 but also in the Nissan 370z aswell as proofing how fit they are.


The 10 fastest racers from Germany and Austria who qualified for the 2nd day, where they had to do tasks for their spot in Silverstone:

Day 2: GT5 Tourney

Day 2 started with a split-screen tournamet. The last sixteen had to drive on the Tsukuba with an Audi TT,but Patrick 'Patohm' Weking discard uhappy.

The quarter-final took place on Indy Road Coast. SK_Patohm had qualified for the quarter-final, but he discard with a time of 02:07,357 minutes.

Like a real pro-racer, all had to give a short press conference!

Day 2: press conference

After this, relatively easy virtual round it was time for each racer to give a press conference.

Each contestant needed to answer questions from journalists (real ones of course) in both english and german and depending on body language, expression and overall appearance the winner from this round would get 10 pts.

Day 2: Fitness Check

After the tourney, a fitness check queue, because all players must show that they are ready, to drive with the Nissan 370z on a real race track. Driving with a 280 PS car is very stressful, so they had to do 4 exercises.

On the picture you see the Seargent Jump, where all players had to show, how high they can jump.
After that, they had to ly on the floor in push-up position with the lower arms and the toes on the ground, the racers needed to remain in that position without touching the floor with any other body part.

Day 2: Real car driving

After a short break, the players had to drive a track with the Nissan 370z.

In a small Parcour-Range each driver had to follow instructions from the Nissan Jury (one of them sitting on the passenger seat). Being the most difficult contest of them all, the racers could get up to 40 points for a spotless performance.

"A very big compliment to Stefan 'Kenny' Jahr ! A lot of the people applaud, because Kenny haven't driven a car since 3 years and he board into the Nissan and drove like a pro ! Big respect, it runs in his blood !!!"


Reslut of the GT5 Academy 2011:

mborg10, the winner of the GT5 Academy 2011, has got his win well-deserved. He reached place 1 at the real car driving and fitness check, furthermore the 2. place at the GT5 Tourney and the press conference.

Stefan 'Kenny' Jahr reached the third place of the overall ranking and miss with only 1.8 points the secound place, because place 1 and 2 will fly to silverstone and stay there 6 days, to get their race licence.

And out of this SK Kenny and mborg10 made it to the half finals. The last battle would reveal that SK Kenny was in for the 30 points whereas mborg10 would still get 25 Points for his second place.
