These results were a surprise to many, as along the qualifiers we witnessed top contending teams
Giants as well as the recently sponsored
ZowieGear get taken out. Especially the performance of the Americans was astounding, knocking both these teams to the loser's bracket using innovative rushdown compositions, before they forfeited their final games in the safe spot of third place (likely due to time restraints).
None of the three winning teams has had too much success in recent tournament history, making it all the more surprising to see three underdogs suddenly fighting to take the crown. One thing is for sure: The competition is growing stiffer by the week, and at this rate the Dreamhack championships will be unforgettable.
Sadly, this tournament was not played under the best of circumstances. Recent server instabilities have left many players with extremely high ping or package loss issues, making them unable to perform at the top of their game. We can only hope that these issues will be resolved before the next qualifier, so we can witness the astonishing gameplay we love to see from the teams.
As a reminder, the next qualifiers will be played on May 1st, again to be hosted and streamed by Borderland Gaming, which is also where you will be able to find VODs along the week.
