The next season of GomTV's Global StarCraft 2 League is to commence in two days, bringing us the best of the Korean pro-scene.GSL May is just around the corner and the tension of thousand expectations can be physically felt. Many people are looking forward to the grandest of the Korean tournaments and for a good reason.
The Code A tournament, which commences on April 18th, has grown even more impressive in respect to last season's. With players like GSL champion
Mvp and numerous others that have proven their worth in the team league as well as in foreign tournaments (referring, of course, to pros such as
MMA,
Bomber,
Alicia and many more), Code A can no longer be considered the "lesser" tournament of the two. The player pool and the brackets give no indications that this competition will bore you. Furthermore, its debut day in May features several of the tournament favorites and for the first time I am just as excited about Code A as I am about Code S.
Speaking of the S class, it too offers more than I can wish. The groups that were drawn last Thursday are, as mentioned above, unpredictable and balanced and although you may think that there are certain favorites in each of them, I beg you to recall the upsets of GSL March. The Code S competition opens on April 19th, featuring the reigning champion
MC, GSL 1 runner-up
Rainbow and Code A finalist
Byun.
The official page of the tournament is now open as well and fans can hop there to purchase season passes, view related VODs and/or join the forum discussions.
