The end of the killer bracket of GSL World Championship put two old enemies against each other once again: IM_MVP and MarineKingPrime. Thus they met again. On one sunny Saturday in Seoul, in front of gigantic 3D screens and on the spectacular open air stage, two mighty Terran commanders faced each other for the second time.
Jung-Hoon 'MarineKing' Lee and
Jong-Hyun 'Mvp' Jung have had a short but tumultuous history together. The two Terrans met at the GSL January grand final and it was not a pretty sight. By that time MVP was the most dominant player in Korea (and probably the whole world) and went through his opponents like they were nothing. MarineKing, on the other hand, was at the finals for a second time and he certainly looked forward to finally win a GSL gold. Unfortunately, Things went bad for MarineKing and he was ran over by the IM Terran, losing 0:4.
GSL World Championship was MarineKing's third chance to sit on a gold throne. However, MVP was again standing in his way, looking forward to winning a second GSL title and coming even with reigning champion
MC. From MarineKing's point of view, fate was certainly a bitch that day.
Jong-Hyun 'Mvp' Jung 4:2
Jung-Hoon 'MarineKing' Lee
-1:0 Scrap Station
-2:0 Shakuras Plateau
-2:1 Crevasse
-2:2 Crossfire
-3:2 Terminus Re
-4:2 Xel'Naga Caverns
The first two games did not really convince me that MarineKing can actually win this. Trying to show that he is a flexible player he opened the match with a Thor rush that would've worked had he not made the bad decision to knock down all rocks on Scrap Station before actually attacking. By that time MVP had all the Siege tech he needed and easily stopped the all in.
The games on Shakuras, although long, was also not a testament of MarineKing's strength. The only time he was ever ahead was due to a miss-click by MVP which was worth about thirty Marines. MarineKing, however, did not made an immediate use of that and that gave MVP enough time to put some Battlecruisers on the field. Not having the proper anti-air, MarineKing's positions were soon busted and the game was finished.

MarineKing's chance for comeback came in sets 3 and 4. On Crevasse, the Prime Terran went once again head to head with MVP's late-game Battlecruisers but this time he had the appropriate anti-air and with careful usage of Marines and Vikings he prevented MVP from ever reaching critical BC numbers and slowly pushed him back, taking the set.
Not wanting to play a long positional-based game on Crossfire against a genius like MVP, MarineKing went for a double rax opening, hiding the second Barracks outside MVP's vision. In under 5 in-game minutes, the neverending flow of Marines managed to wipe out whatever defenses MVP had.
The final two sets were just painful for all the MarineKing fans out there. After some reciprocal damage to both sides, MVP took the decision to strike hard just when MarineKing was taking his third. Having way less forces, MarineKing struggled to fend off the opposing Terran forces but with the aid of some Medivacs MVP's Marines managed to bust through, making the score 3:2.
The sixth set was on Caverns and once again things went awfully bad for MarineKing. He opted to go for a mobile force and soon had two Medivacs full of Marines but, unfortunately, a lucky SCV scouted those for MVP and just like that the element of surprise was gone. Taking this opportunity, MVP moved south and sieged at MarineKing's choke, containing him with a beautiful tank placement. Knowing that the only thing that was left to do was to control every way that forces could be sneaked through, MVP sit patiently, using scans and Marine to detect the limited movement of MarineKing's forces, while saturating a gold base at the same time. In a desperate attempt to force a contain lift, MarineKing rallied his forces through the back alley but this was once again spotted and when his forces arrived at MVP's main, the IM Terran was fully ready, crushing everything and winning the match.

This puts a third silver trophy in MarineKing's hands who is slowly turning into the Stork of StarCraft 2. Apparently, someone does not wish to reward his persistence and keeps putting him against the most beastly of players. Sometimes twice.
On the other hand, MVP now stands equal to MC with both of them having won two GSL golds. After his embarrassing drop to Code A in March and his elimination from TSL 3, MVP now went through hellish opponents such as
July (who was the main reason for MVP's downfall),
San and
HuK to stand triumphant once more. So, whoever thought that MVP's play was withering and rotting away I strongly recommend rewatching the finals for complete disproof of this statement.
