ImageThe StarCraft series earn yet another significant recognition. Both Wings of Liberty and its predecessor BroodWar are now competing for a place at the exhibition at Smithsonian Art Museum.

Video games, and StarCraft in particular, have been gaining more and more acclamation over the past few years but the deepest curtsy to them as a form of art yet comes from the Smithsonian Art Museum. Many game titles have been chosen to compete for a place in the video game exhibition of the renowned museum, which will be held from 16th March 2012 till 30th September 2012.

The exhibition will encompass a 40 years worth of video games, showing the public the revolutions in terms of design, developing, art, technologies, visual effects and the influence on and relationship between video games and art, television, education and skill training.

Thus, the fans of the StarCraft universe have yet another cause to rejoice as they are given the opportunity to vote for the beloved sci-fi RTS of Blizzard. StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty has been nominated in the Combat/Strategy section of Era 5: Next Generation. Its predecessor, StarCraft: BroodWar can be found in the same section of Era 4: Transition.

The public nominations are open till April 17th 2011 so everybody that wants to support StarCraft or any other video game of his choice can hop to exhibition's website and vote for 80 of all the 240 nominated games.
