Days before the grand final of GSL March we are now having the thrilling pleasure to observe the up-and-down matches that will decide who will earn a Code S status for the next season. The first batch of up-and-down matches were played yesterday and the foreign scene now has his second hero aside from "Jinro".
Chris 'HuK' Loranger managed to qualify from his Protoss-only star group where he was accompanied by players of proven magnificence such as
Jun Hyuk 'InCa' Song and
Hyung-Sup 'Choya' Lee.
"HuK" lost his first game against the PvP maestro "Inca" 0-2 and proceeded to play the deciding Code S match against "Choya". The Canadian showed a stellar, patient and surgically precise game and managed to pull out a 2-1 victory that will place him in the groups for Code S next season. He is thus the only other foreigner apart from
Jonathan 'Jinro' Walsh that will compete in the biggest SC2 venue of the world.
In Group B,
Dong-Nyung 'Leenock' Lee drew the short straw, being placed among two of the best players in the entire world. He lost both his sets 0-2 against
Jae-Duck 'NesTea' Lim and
Jung-Hoon 'MarineKing' Lee and the mastodons have secured their rightful places among the other Code S players.
The up-and-down matches will continue for three more days, including today.
