ImageAn official statement from WCG, announcing nine games for the 2011 finals in Korea, disproves the rumour that StarCraft 2 will be excluded from the game list.

Less than two weeks after a concern was raised that Blizzard games might be excluded from the WCG 2011 finals, fans of StarCraft 2 might now sleep peacefully. WCG has released an official list of nine games that will be featured in the upcoming venue in Korea and the newest RTS of Blizzard is, fortunately, included.

WCG 2011 Official Game Titles

- StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty
- Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne
- World of Warcraft: Cataclysm
- Counter-Strike 1.6
- League of Legends
- FIFA 11
- Tekken 6
- Crossfire
- Special Force

Furthermore, to answer the question about the absence of StarCraft: BroodWar from the game list, a TeamLiquid translation of a Fomos.kr post states that BW is being replaced by Wings of Liberty due to gamers' and partners' desires as well as the rising popularity of the sequel.

"We decided to remove StarCraft 1 from our games lineup after a discussion with the gamers from all over the world, as well as the partner companies. Also, as we aim to represent the world's premier gaming tournament, we chose to use StarCraft 2 -- as the game is popular worldwide."
