For the second year running, League of Legends will feature at the WCG.

Last year League of Legends featured as a promotional title at the WCG, this year however it has been selected as an official title for the first time.

The WCG have listed the first official titles which will appear in this years games. They are:

Having one event a year doesn't make it a viable e-Sport, whats the point in playing all year for Blizzcon and now WCG. Just my opinion.

they did yes. in 2009 and 2010. i think it's really lame and sad that it's not there again. it totally deserves it. and what's up with having 3 fps titles?

Seems a little odd having no racing game like Trackmania or NFS or whatever and then having CS 1.6 and 2 really unknown fps titles at WCG. all the other games are quite popular and seems logical

now that i think of it, aren't special force and crossfire Korean games? and WCG will be in Korea this year. so perhaps that's why those games are there and no racing game is in it, since racing isn't that big in Korea. although that doesn't explain why Kart Rider isn't in the line-up. hm...

They probably weren't, it's just that WCG likes picking games that are only played in one region of the world, specifically the region that the company is from. Why else would they have shit like cellphone games?

The voting was there for a reason and I highly doubt that either FPS(the ones I stated) got more votes than Quake Live. I really don't get their policy of not giving what the crowd wants. Furthermore, Quake is growing while Crossfire and Special Forces won't even get the viewers attention (EU,NA). Whatever, guess I'll be watching the LoL, SC2 and CS1.6 games only.

i did notice though that it does say "World Cyber Games will soon be announcing additional official, mobile and promotional titles for the WCG 2011 Grand Final. The titles announced today will be available for online and regional qualification tournaments in countries around the world."

This gets said everytime, but look at the number of people playing LoL compared to HoN both before and after HoN had a price.

As for Dota it is merely dated, it could be that Dota2 challenges LoL for the genre but atm LoL is unchallenged which is why it is being picked.

Uhh, League of Legends is #1 because it's a free game. It's also a casual game, and an absolutely horrible fit for an E-sport. Just because a game is popular (LoL), that doesn't mean that it makes for a good e-sport game. At all. See WoW. HoN/Dota is 10 times the Esport game that LoL is.

u definitely dont understand the fact that when the people see a HoN match or a DotA match, they dont know what's going on.
In LoL, the friendly graphics and the easy environment make the people have fun watching this.
This is why the game is growing and growing

No Quake Live, no Super Street Fighter 4 and No racing? I guess its whatever game titles put up the cash to have their game promoted, such as all those free to play games and riot games for league of legends. We all know its not because of the "massive gamer base" because then we would see a whole different list of games all together, aside from cs 1.6 and sc2.

League of Legends is not interesting outside of the League of Legends scene, which in turn is a lot smaller than many of the games I have posted above. Evidence is in live stream viewings and the number of participants at tournaments. So I really find it hard to believe that such a small game has made it into such a big event without offering up any money.

Riot Games is the only developer that is listed under a "partner", though.

Don't understand the hate against the games that were chosen, though. It's not like Quake Live, Trackmania or SSF3 weren't chosen because LoL was.

I totally agree i'd rather see QL, Trackmania or SF too, i just don't understand the hate towards LoL.

"League of Legends is not interesting outside of the League of Legends scene" That is merely opinion and can be said for 90% of games. I'm not sure how many livestream viewings would make it large but daily streams range from 1-10k viewers at a time.

Yeah I know its an opinion, but its quite accurate too, I'm not just saying that this just applies to LoL, world of warcraft and possibly even some of the older fps games such as CS 1.6 suffer from this nowadays. I know tonnes of people who can happily watch SSF4, SC2 and Quake Live without even being gamers. I mean if a main eSports body just fucking decided which game to support out of: HoN, Dota and LoL we would have a much bigger scene for this style of game, and we would have interesting personalities shining out and showing us why this game is good, like what heaton, spawn, Element, shaguar and a shitload of other players did for Counter-Strike in the past. I just feel that either ESL, ESWC or WCG haven't quite stepped up to the plate and defined esports the way CPL used to. To be honest, its very fucking disappointing, kinda like they are all waiting for a big player to step in and show them how its done...

I don't see what the big fuzz is especially for LoL. The game is cool in many different aspects and I'm happy that it gets the recognition it deserves. The lack of seriousness of DotA players proved that DotA isn't suitable for big tournament plays etc. I don't really want to discuss HoN. So again .... What's your problem with LoL given the fact that it has quite the fan base in EU and US and WAS(!) included in IEM 6 and WCG 2010. I don't remember anyone complaining last year ? Just support QL and everything will be okay. Peace out.

Agreed, i just want to see a dominant title in this genre. I appreciate LoL doesn't appeal to everyone but it's the people who say LoL is a bad game who i find naive.

Err, last I heard LoL had over 250k concurrent viewers at its peak in its Dreamhack livestream, while HoN had about 8k at its peak? I thought that LoL just dethroned WoW after holding the #1 spot for 7 years straight a few weeks ago (according to XFire statistics)? And I thought everyone knew that Starcraft II had only about 80k viewers at its peak?

Oh BTW I heard that the janitor let HoN fanboys setup their little tourny in the toilets if they keep the noise level down (From the LoL forums)

so many fools in here! guys u have no clue i don't believe that more ppl are playing LoL over HoN or DotA , and wth on the comment "DotA 2 challenges LoL" its not a fair challenge if it will be challenge because as i said before LoL have no chance against LoL and true gamers know that HoN or DotA is way better than LoL.. but yeah that is true LoL is mb popular coz its like Easy Mode game when i heard about the things and stuff what u can do and what u have in LoL i was like WTF? is this REAL? why not make a game already and call it League of Casual Gamers & Zero Skill in Competitive? im 100% sure that in HoN and DotA are 5x better players than in LoL and Best LoL players are like average HoN or DotA players and u can think whatever u want but its my opinion and i believe it is true... so gtfo LoL fans already go play ur LoL trash in corner its sad that the good games are left behind on such big eSports action, seems like ppl or organisations dont realise that if u want on IEM or WCG some game u NEED to think about the COMPETITIVE in this game. Like we have said, we all want to see a supported title in this Genre, but this blind fan boy flaming of LoL that people have is ridiculous.

xfire hours doesnt say anything , Actually it supports my comment as i said LoL seems to be made for CASUAL gamers mainly thats why so many hours according to xfire..

this is known sometimes games/things/music is chosen according to MAJORITY... thats why is LoL on WCG & IEM over HoN and DotA thats why is there no Quake Live or Team Fortress 2 in WCG and there are some 2 FPS games i never heard off (im oldschool CS 1.6 player) thats why is WoW over Aion because even tho maybe is Aion better but WoW still plays the majority. damn it... same sht in radio Pop 24/7 over real music like Rock or Rap coz majority likes pop.... its a shame in fact..

Excuse me ... there are casual games and gamers, but I believe that every player was the wretched (in your words) "CASUAL" gamer before becoming a pro. LoL just progressed faster and one more thing - if the HoN fans were *THAT MANY* wouldn't the votes swing in HoN's favor ?
