Na'Vi have won DreamHack Winter following an impressive 2-0 win over mTw.The WCG grand final rematch wasn't as close as many had hoped for. It didn't take two overtimes nor three maps for Natus Vincere to defeat mTw at DreamHack Winter, as the Ukrainian team were simply too much for the Danes. Sergey 'starix' Ishchuk put in an astonishing performance to spur his side to victory.
Natus Vincere 16:6
mTw (inferno - 9:6, 7:0)
Natus Vincere 16:11
mTw (train - 8:7, 8:4)
Na'Vi immediately came to play on de_inferno by picking up the pistol round as Counter-Terrorists but mTw hit back with a crazy deagle round win to completely ruin Na'Vi's chance of opening up a lead. After mTw opened a brief lead of their own Na'Vi tied things up and went ahead, only for Martin Alexander 'trace' Bang Heldt to cut all hopes of a further lead by taking a nice 1 vs. 2 at the A bomb site.
mTw attacked the A site again and looked likely to take the round, only for Arseniy 'ceh9' Trynozhenko to take his own 1 vs. 2 and secure the round for his team.
This put the Danish side on an eco, and once those two rounds passed mTw hit the B site instead. It paid off two rounds in a row but for the third and last attempt Sergey 'starix' Ishchuk pulled off another 1 vs. 2 to give Na'Vi a 9:6 lead.
On the offensive Na'Vi were by far the better side, not only with their attacks but their approach to locking down a site. After taking the pistol round Yegor 'markeloff' Markelov in particular was the man key to Na'Vi's brilliant site defense, something which mTw had no answer for as Na'Vi rolled through whichever site they chose, giving mTw zero rounds.
de_train opened up much better for mTw, but after taking a five round lead their opponents tied things up. mTw had a far better defensive mentality on train, but it didn't take long for Na'Vi to see through that as they finished the side 8-7, courtesy of more great play from markeloff.
mTw secured the pistol round again, and despite Na'Vi's surprise second round buy rocking the Danes, they picked up the round straight after that.
But Na'Vi's defense was superb, especially regarding the B bomb site, and when mTw got a plant down the WCG champions quickly nullified any chance for mTw to protect the site. At 15-11 mTw were restricted to just deagles, a horror scenario which ultimately saw them lose the round and the chance of securing two DreamHack wins in a row.
