Day 1 of BlizzCon has come to a close and here is an update of what took place in the SC2, WoW, and WC3 tournaments. The first day of action at BlizzCon 2010 has wrapped up for the day and a whole bunch of matches took place in the StarCraft II, WarCraft III and World of Warcraft tournaments. In addition to the official tournaments taking place, there will also be a show match between legendary Korean SC player
Yo-Hwan 'BoxeR' Lim and GSL Season 1 winner
Won Ki 'FruitDealer' Kim on Saturday. $200,000 dollars is being dealt out among these three events so this is definitely a day of action you will not want to miss.
Results (Day 1):
StarCraft II: (brackets)
- Tournament resumes at 10:00 am Pacific time on Saturday, Oct 23rd.
In the first day of action in the SC2 tournament we suprisingly saw MLG D.C. runner up
Kyeong Hyun 'SeleCT' Ryoo drop his first match of the tournament along with tournament favorites
Dmytro 'DIMAGA' Filipchuk and
Dario 'TLO' Wünsch doing the same. We then saw SelecT meet
Benjamin 'DeMusliM' Baker in the lower bracket where select was quickly eliminated from the tournament. In a rather unfortunate turn of events TLO met Dimaga in the first round of the LB and lost. This means he will be heading back to Korea following a disappointing result at BlizzCon.
Fortunately for
Chris 'HuK' Loranger he survived at least round 1 in the upper bracket but was dropped down after a loss to
Yi 'Loner' Dai in round 2. As of now the only players not to drop matches in the SC2 tournament are
Min-Soo 'Genius' Jung,
Oleksii 'White-Ra' Krupnyk, Loner and
Chia Yang 'SEn' Cheng. So far, SelecT,
Daryl 'ice' Koh,
Patricio 'Capoch' del Olmo, TLO,
Thanapol 'RedArchon' Kuachat and
Ye 'Luffy' Hao have been eliminated from the event.
WarCraft III: (brackets)
- Tournament resumes at 1:00 pm Pacific time on Saturday, Oct 23rd.
After seeing
Manuel 'Grubby' Schenkhuizen and
Jae Ho 'Moon' Jang playing each other in the first round, with Moon emerging victorious, former EG teammate of Grubby, Happy, also dropped his first match to fly100%. Recent WCG champion
Sung Sik 'ReMinD' Kim remains the only undefeated player in the upper bracket with Cruncher, Happy, Raspot, Fly100% and Grubby all being eliminated from the tournament. The final match up against remind will be decided tomorrow when Moon faces off against
Xuwen 'InFi' Wang.
World of Warcraft: (brackets)
- Tournament resumes at 10:00 am Pacific time on Saturday, Oct 23rd.
In WoW we have the recent MLG D.C. champions
compLexity Red undefeated in the upper bracket alongside the European team of
against All authority . The old Button Bashers/
Loaded squad lost out to coL in round 2 and find themselves matched up against MLS in the second round of the lower bracket which has yet to be played. Thus far the teams of tt eSports and ROC have been eliminated from the event.
