ImageTeam Liquid's StarCraft II player HuK talks to MLG after his 3rd place finish at MLG D.C.

Following CA Chris 'HuK' Loranger's 3rd place finish at MLG D.C. a few days ago, they sat down with the Team Liquid SC2 player to discuss the event. HuK is a player who really established a name for himself through impressive play in the beta but stumbled in his first LAN debut at Gamescom 2010 in Germany. In his next event, which was MLG Raleigh, HuK was better able to control his nerves and ended up coming home with the gold. It was shortly after this when TeamLiquid snatched him up and decided he will be one of the many players they'll send to Korea to compete in the GSL.

At MLG D.C., he found himself losing out to second place finisher Kyeong Hyun 'SeleCT' Ryoo and this interview focuses on the event and other aspects of his SC2 career.

You probably noticed how much bigger the crowd was in D.C. than in Raleigh, with world-class players like yourself, Ret, and Idra attending. What do you think the future holds for StarCraft 2 at MLG?

"Jeez, that’s really hard to say. The whole Event, and SC2, just seem like they won't stop growing. It's hard to put a cap on it because every single LAN I've been to thus far has always been packed. I think it’s going to be the biggest thing since Halo, and hopefully next time it will be some Halo player saying: "don’t worry, that’s just the SC2 crowd.”"

In talking about where he draws his inspiration from, and why he decides to use somewhat 'unorthodox' crowd-pleasing strategies, he had the following to say:

Was the crowd the main influence in the decision to go with a Mothership?

"Well, I'm just going to compare it to Boxer to explain it best, since I have stated in the past [that] he is my idol and I want to be what he was for SC1, in SC2—even though that is impossible.

Boxer did "crazy" innovative strategies like nuke rushing and optic flaring Overlords and all this great stuff. I like to do the same thing with my play because it pleases the crowd and fans. The difference right now between my style and his is… he won.

Sorry if I went off on a little rant here, but there have been a lot of people saying I knew I’d lost, or I didn’t want to play Idra, etc., so I just want to make sure my word gets out on the subject."
