rapha makes light work of czm, moves to final

ImageSK Gaming's rapha brushed aside Quake legend czm to advance to the grand final of the IEM American Championship, where he will face DaHanG.

Shane 'rapha' Hendrixson 3-0'd Paul 'czm' Nelson to secure his place in tomorrow's IEM American Championship grand final. While the first two maps were examples of methodical destruction, the third was a much more frantic affair as both players looked to take the match into their own hands.

Both ztn and dm13 showcased rapha's incredible playstyle as he dictated every single battle as well as had free reign of every item. The pace was slow, but it was a dominant performance.

It took almost 16 minutes for czm to pick up his first frag of the series, but it wasn't like he had zero opportunities. On several occasions he put in the work to set a kill up, but his execution was lacking the final touches that the elite Quake pros possess.

After getting on the board however, he cratered and knocked his tally back down to 0.

Hektik was another one-sided affair but carried a lot more speed and desire from both players. Though the score quickly reached 13-1 czm was still closing in on frags, often leaving rapha with under 25hp.

His persistence paid off as he rallied together five kills in a row but it was far too late in the game to mount a comeback. rapha quickly bounced back from his death spree and closed out the game in prominent fashion, racking up 24 frags to czm's 7.

The result sets up a DaHanG vs. rapha final, a rematch of 2009's IEM American Championship climax. It was the only title that rapha failed to pick up last year, will DaHanG take it from him again? Be sure to catch the game on ESL TV tomorrow from 17:05 CEST.
