The ETS LAN event took place this past weekend in Montreal, Quebec which also played host to the WCG Canadian Finals. The CS 1.6 teams were competing for $1,500 and the chance to represent Canada at the WCG Grand Finals in Los Angeles, California.

Canada's CS 1.6 scene has proven to be relatively weak over the last couple years with the same 10 or so players rotating among the top couple teams. Area51 ca, headed by long time player Garett 'Grt' Bambrough was a clear favourite coming into the event being the only team to have participated at a high profile LAN as of late (ESEA-I Finals and Arbalet Dallas).

As expected the familiar Canadian teams of Area51 ca, Sway Gaming and NoPression topped each of their groups and advanced into the bracket play. NoPression made quick work of v0v but then went down 18-22 and 17-19 in two extremely close games against Sway in the second round. This gave Sway the opportunity to go up against the tournament favourites Area 51 where they took the first map in the best-of-three, but fell short on de_inferno and de_dust2 losing 16-11 and 16-12.
