GomTV's ambitious GSL has sparked controversy with the announcement that VODs and streams will not be free. The Global Starcraft League, run by GomTV, is one of the most ambitious esports leagues to date. But they have upset fans recently by announcing that live streams and VODs will require payment. Moreover, paying for the live stream will not give you access to the VODs. Under current plans, viewers will have to pay an additional fee to watch the videos on demand.
According to a statement on Team Liquid, the first game of each series will be broadcast for free. Never the less, the whole move has been seen as a money-grab by many disgruntled fans who feel that moving from free streams in the past to a $20 USD fee is simply too much. On top of that, VODs will cost even more, coming in at $30.
Single day tickets are also available for $1.99 per match day, rising to $2.99 once the season begins.
The official website has not yet been updated for streaming but the English commentary will be provided fan favourites Artosis and Tasteless. The site does, however, have a forum where fans have already begun to air their concerns.
The round of 64 for GSL begins in just two days (August 4).

For 30 you can watch all the VODs but no the livestream.
Makes perfect sense, right...? :\
gunrun from GLHF.tv did a test today to check what the quality of the GSL stream will be like, and it was pretty alright. they have been increasing the bandwidth over the past few days as well, so it should be ok.
for anyone wondering, it is unlikely that replays will be released from the event, as players don't want build orders etc stolen.
if you hate having to pay to watch e-sports, then just hope that someone restreams the games on TL, or uploads the vods to youtube/etc.
Free streams, YEAH!
