2 zerg, 2 terran in semi-finals

ImageIdra, Dimaga, Morrow and Tarson have made their way into the semi-finals of IEM Cologne.

The Starcraft II tournament at Gamescom is reaching its climax. Four players remain, perfectly split between terran and zerg for tomorrows semi-finals. Gregory 'IdrA' Fields overcame Pierre 'SarenS' Guivarch in a match which was delayed by lag issues. Coming back after a 15 minute pause, the zerg player looked to have dealt with the interruption better than his opponent, taking the the vital 5th map with relative ease after a long, long series.

Elsewhere, SK Gaming's Fredrik 'MaDFroG' Johansson was dumped out of the tournament by terran player Tomasz 'Tarson' BoroĊ„. There game was played alongside Idra-Sarens and met with the same lag issues. But unlike that game, this one was never in doubt. Tarson's performance was superb and he took a well-deserved 3-0 victory. Fan favourite, Dario 'TLO' Wünsch was also eliminated this morning in an incredibly close game by Carl Stefan 'MorroW' Andersson.

In the 2nd game of the day, mTw team-mates duked it out in a gruelling contest. Dmytro 'DIMAGA' Filipchuk took a 2-0 lead early on but Benjamin 'DeMusliM' Baker didn't throw in the towel. Pulling the game back to 2-2, the Brit fell at the final hurdle. The final map (Metalopolis) was pretty standard but had one of the most ridiculous endings in SC2's brief history. A superbly placed Fungal Growth by Dimaga stunned half of Demuslim's army. This allowed a wall of banelings to roll right into the terran forces, blowing them up in spectacular fashion.
