Slasher banned from Quakecon

ImageCommunity figure, esports promoter and commentator Slasher has been banned from Quakecon, and QuakeLive, by id for revealing private information intended only for the focus group.

Coverage of Quakecon took an unexpected turn as community figure and promoter Rod 'Slasher' Breslau was banned from attending id software's Quakecon event. Slasher was banned for revealing id's new maps which were only known officially to the focus group. While Slasher was not a member of the focus group at the time, and thus thought he was not bound by an NDA, he was over two years ago and apparently id claims that NDA still applies even now.

Slasher had planned to commentate some of the event along with his Lo3 partner djWHEAT but those plans are no longer viable due to the decision of the event organisers to exclude him.

Slasher revealed the information when he told viewers of the ESWC lvl^ stream that aerowalk, the much beloved QW and Q3 map, would be making its return in the near future to QuakeLive. This information got his QuakeLive account banned and has subsequently led to the event banning.

Regarding the banning and exclusion from Quakecon Slasher told SK Gaming:

"After reporting on QuakeCon for the last five years, and broadcasting the past three, it is extremely disheartening to have things the way they are currently. I should not have broadcasted sensitive information over the stream, but my intent was only to inform the community who had not heard any updates in a long time.

I wish all the competitors the best of luck and hope the live stream goes as smooth as possible to provide off-site coverage."
