Rapha playing in live IEM qualifier tonight

ImageSK Gaming's Rapha will take part in a qualifying tournament for IEM tonight, broadcast by Wheat and Slasher.

Shane 'rapha' Hendrixson will play in a small tournament this evening, which is being run as part of the qualification for IEM season five. Despite the relatively small payout (first place in the preliminary tournaments got $75), Big Bang 2010 has attracted some big names including Tim 'DaHanG' Fogarty, Chance 'Chance' Lacina and Brian 'dkt' Flander.

The LAN feature two tournaments earlier today from which the top four qualified for the IEM Regular Season Cup. Now those eight players will duke it out for an $800 first prize, as well as a slot in the America Cup - the last stop on the way to Global Finals qualification - later in the year. On top of that, of course, QuakeCon is just round the corner, making this tournament a perfect warmup for one of the biggest events in the Quake calender.

The games will be cast by Slasher and DJWheat over on Wheat's website starting at around 00:00 CET. Intriguingly, this will also be the first Quake Live event to feature genuine LAN play since the game came out of beta yesterday. The "new" maps such as Aerowalk will be included in the map pool.
