The first major SC2 LAN is a few weeks away and ESL has released the complete list of players for the event.Six qualified, ten were invited, but all will be playing for $15,000 USD in Cologne later this month. 16 of the world's best Starcraft II players will attend the games inauguration into the Extreme Masters on August 18.
The latest round of Go4SC2 cups brought us six qualifiers in total, including the likes of Dmitriy 'Dimaga' Filipchuk and Tomasz 'Tarson' Boroń. Famous faces from the WC3 scene also made their mark, with both and Johan 'Naniwa' Lucchesi earning themselves a spot each. Rounding out the qualifiers were Pierre 'SarenS' Guivarch of France and the Italian Carlo 'Cloud' Giannacco. Interestingly, four of the six were terran players.
The other ten players were invited directly by ESL and represent some of the early pace-setters in SC2. The list of big names is pretty much the same length as the complete list, so you can read that below:
Oleksii 'White-Ra' Krupnik
Benjamin 'DeMusliM' Baker
Gregory 'IdrA' Fields
Dario 'TLO' Wünsch
Chris 'HuK' Loranger
Eugene 'Strelok' Oparyshev
Dan 'Artosis' Stemkoski
Pavel 'BratOK' Kuznetsov
Dennis 'HasuObs' Schneider
Fredrik 'MaDFroG' Johansson
All stars of the past present, and probably future, but Madfrog is something of an unusual choice. The other players already have a proven pedigree from online cups while the Swede seems to have been invited on his impressive but antiquated WC3 reputation. Never the less, the full list is an impressive one and should lead to an exciting first tournament.
