FX outlast fnatic in overtime battle

ImageFX caused another upset at GameGune getting the better of their longtime rivals fnatic in another overtime battle to add to the two team's colourful histories. FX now move into the Grand Final.

Frag eXecutors have done the seemingly impossible and knocked off fnatic on inferno to move onto the Grand Final, having defeated Natus Vincere in the previous round. For a rematch of the WCG gold and silver medalist's final match at the 2009 finals what better way to pay tribute to that epic matchup than with another overtime game right?

The Poles found themselves facing a poor terrorist side but turned it around in time to salvage six rounds. On the CT side it was they who managed to get in position to win first as they had two match points to win the game outright. fnatic held them off and into overtime we all went. In overtime it was all FX as they put themselves in solid position on the terrorist side and then shut fnatic out as CTs to win the match.

fnatic 16:19 Frag eXecutors (inferno - 9:6, 6:9, OT - 1:2, 0:2)

Two from pasha and neo gave FX the pistol round and soon they were at 3:0 on their terrorist side. Then three kills from fnatic, including a USP finish, cleaned up a B rush and fnatic started the ball rolling. dsn and f0rest were hitting their shots and fnatic pushed the score all the way to 9:3 in their favour, looking to put the Poles far behind them by the end of the first half.

At this point FX found the spark they'd been sorely lacking on their offensive side and began to grind out rounds. The first came thanks to three kills from TaZ in A distracting the fnatic players to rotate. The other FX guys went B, planted and won the round. fnatic seemed to let their foot off the pedal a little too much and FX knew they had no more breathing room to keep themselves in the game so they kept pushing hard and finished up with a 9:6 to fnatic half.

The pistol round went to FX again on their CT side as they got two kills from TaZ and Loord. With the score at only 9:8 to themselves fnatic got a string of rounds put together to retake a three round lead. On the 22nd round FX looked to be cruising to a clean win at B before GeT_RiGhT killed four of them in quick succession, eventually dying to Loord. On the next round TaZ picked up two to add to neo's three and FX were only one round down.

After three GeT_RiGhT kills helped fnatic made the difference two, 13:11, FX put the clamps down on their defense and won the next four to hit match point at 15:13. Despite those two map and match points FX weren't able to stop fnatic forcing overtime.

Overtime

Going to overtime didn't phase the Poles as they went back to trying to work their offensive side. On the second round two kills from neo broke up B before GeT_RiGhT's three made it a 2v2 for pasha, who was very low, and Loord. The Poles managed to turned into their favour. fnatic got the last round and headed into their own T half of overtime.

The CT half was a shutout for FX. Three kills from Loord in the 1st ensured they reached match point and then three from TaZ and two from neo claimed the victory.

FX now await the winner of the lower bracket in the Grand Final.
