Just over a week ago, Blizzard gave Starcraft fans a wet dream come true when they put SC2 back online for the 2nd phase of beta testing. Now they are leaving players just less than another week to mop themselves up and prepare for the full launch.

Blizzard has taken the beta servers down once again in preparation for the game's official launch on July 27. The 2nd phase was short and not particularly sweet, with almost no changes to the game mechanics. However, it was always thought that the 2nd phase would be a stress test, due to its "open" nature. The main additions were cosmetic, with a cleaner battle.net UI and the full addition of the love-them/loathe-them achievements.

With only a few teething problems in the early days of the beta, it seems that Blizzard is prepared to launch the game as-is. Don't be surprised to see one or two minor changes before Wings of Liberty finally hits stores next week, however.
