ImageFnatic wins over Deal With it 2-1, proceeds to finals of $1,000 Honcast invitational. SK Gaming interviews [DWi]WaFFOMGZ.

In an exciting semifinal match-up of the $1,000 Honcast Invitational, FI fnatic defeated CA Deal With it 2-1 and proceeds to the final, where they will meet the winner of todays game between US SK Gaming and US Loaded that is due to start 1PM PST / 10PM CEST, livestream on honcast.com.

Deal With it started the match-up with a win in an over an hour long thriller. Both sides had their opportunities to claim the win in this game of back-and-forth. Fnatic's carries couldn't compete with Deal With it's Madman and Defiler in the very late game, however.

The second game started very good for Fnatic, but the surprise Portal Key pick-up on Swiftblade threw them off guard and Deal With it was back in the game. The same hero was, unfortunately, what cost them the game in the end, as his unnecessary death meant they went into the last fight with a man down.

The third game was dominated from the very start by Fnatic. Everything went exactly like they wanted it to and they managed to seal the deal as early as 26 minutes into the game and proceeded to the finals.

Shortly after their defeat, we sat down with US 'WaFFOMGZ' .

In the first game, were you confident that Madman and Defiler will be able to get enough farm to steal the game from Fnatic's carries?

"For the most part, yes. Madman is easily one of the strongest lategame carries at the moment. We also had Behemoth which gives us a pretty large advantage later on, since they always had to worry about grouping up and positioning more so than we did."

Was Portal Key on Swiftblade in second game something that was planned earlier or did it come up as an option during the game? It certainly worked out well for you.

"Yeah, we knew going into the game that AMXZaku was going to do something dumb as usual. Not that it was bad or anything, it worked great and we knew he was going to play Swiftblade like that instead of the usual AFK carry farm."

The top barracks/token ninja seemed to the spectators as a deciding moment in that game, but you guys managed to recover from it and keep the game as close as the first one was. What do you think decided it?

"AMXZaku getting picked off at mid before the final fight lost it for us. We were fairly confident that we could win in the end after genociding them in the previous fight, but going into the last fight 4v5 without our third carry made it impossible."

What happened in the third game?

"Outplayed sums it up. Bottle crow abuse is just stupid. Fnatic used it the first 2 games and we knew going into the last one that they'll do it again but we really didn't think of a way to stop it since it was never used against us before. But next time..."

It seems that you guys struggle with early game performance but turn the game around during the mid game. Why is that?

"It's mostly the strategies the opponents use. I think we win the middle lane almost every game for the most part. In this series however, as I already said, they abused bottle crow ferry as much as possible which pretty much gives them a free win in that lane and let's them pick a strong trilane, while we didn't expect to run a trilane but had to do it as a counter, so ours ends up being a weaker one."

Your impressive performances lately are surely grabbing the attention of fans and sponsors. What are your thoughts about this?

"We love the fans. Or atleast I do, fanboys and trolls alike :) It's nice to finally be in the spotlight. We've been at this level for the past few months easily, but you only ever heared of the "big 4" (SK, Loaded, Fnatic, KD Gaming). We just didn't have a chance to prove ourselves because we mostly only played the big teams in scrims so no one was able to see our performances. Hopefully we will get a higher seed in future tournaments so Slickz can play more :) His 400 ping on an european server just doesn't work on this level of play. Sponsors? Who wouldn't love to be picked up by a good e-sport organization?"

Thanks for the interview WaFFOMGZ! Any last words?

"Thank you. Shoutout to all our old fans and new ones...Sorry for the disappointing loss, the Gosugamers World Cup wont end the same way!"
