ImageSK Gaming's Heroes of Newerth team defeats Druidz in first round, will play against Loaded in semi-finals.

US SK Gaming defeated SE Druidz in the first round of the $1,000 Honcast Invitational Tournament 2-1 and will meet US Loaded in the semi-finals next weekend.

Druidz were missing two of their players, however SK Gaming showed great sportsmanship and allowed them to bring in replacements. Jonathan 'Loda' Berg and Joakim 'Akke' Akterhall were invited to rejoin their former team in an attempt to upset SK Gaming.

Druidz decided to run an AOE heavy line-up in the first game which our boys countered with a Vindicator pick. Druidz didn't manage to finish the game early and it was just a matter of time before SK Gaming's 3 carry heroes farmed enough to take the victory.

In the second game however, SK Gaming showed some sloppy play throughout the match and failed to stop the enemies Predator to get the items he needs to dominate the late-game.

The final game of the series has shown why SK Gaming is regarded as the top Heroes of Newerth team on the scene. The loss in the previous game didn't hurt their confidence, they completely outpicked their opponents and displayed some impressive play to seal the deal.

We asked US Robert 'Bdiz' Tinnes a couple questions about their win against Druidz and the semi-final match-up against Loaded.

How did you feel going into the first round of the Honcast invitational? Did you have a certain play plan in mind beforehand or did you just "go with the flow"?

"We felt confident that we'd be able to beat Team Druidz, and succeeding in doing so, although it took us one more game than we had expected. We did have several lane combinations that we had recently been practicing, and wanted to run, however sometimes you just have to go with the flow and pick vindicator to counter the opposing teams lineup!"

What happened in the second game? Did you guys feel confident that you could bounce right back up and get the victory or were you a bit demoralized?

"The second game was a sloppy mess, from start to finish. Tabako made a mistake which fed bloodlust, however they were able to come back in the lane to win it. I personally made several huge mistakes throughout the game, and didn't utilize Magmus properly, at all. We're all extremely disappointed in our atrocious performance in game two, however we never let a loss get to our heads. We shake it off, and keep on playing the game. We knew that we were a better team, and knew that we'd be able to pull off the victory if we played our game."

What do you think about the semi-final match up with LOAD?

"Ah, Loaded again. Classic rivalry gets another chapter added to the books this upcoming weekend! It's always exciting to play against LOAD, as we're the two best teams in North America. Last time we played was a week or two ago in Alienware, and they gave us a whooping that we weren't prepared for. However, money's on the line and when it is we've won the last two meetings against them, beating them and winning 1st place in the vVv Invitational aswell as the GameReplays Season 1 Invitational. Hopefully we'll be able to beat them again as long as we fix the flaws that we found in our play vs DrDz, and continue to practice throughout the week."
