NEWS cut down, military calls

ImageThe Finnish PlayZone side have been cut down to two players due to the army calling for danzer, jiGetus and dRiim to serve their military time.

Last week saw the Finnish Counter Stike division of PlayZone attended the ESWC 2010 Finals in Paris, France, where after some controversy in the second group stage saw the team miss out on a spot in the playoffs to eventual winners NaVi.

After the disappointing exit at ESWC, three of the teams members have learned they have been called in by the Finnish military to serve their mandatory service, which will last a minimum of six months. The three players, Otto 'danzer' Dimitrow, Jirka 'JiGetus' Ryhti and Miikka 'dRiim' Toroi, in a similar situation to PowerGaming appealed for their service to be moved to a later date, only for it to be rejected.

The remaining two players, Kimmo 'BASiC' Fagerholm and Joni 'Freon' Huumo, have stated they will carry on playing under the PlayZone banner and try to rebuild the team as soon as possible.

Statement from Joni 'Freon' Huumo, to

"On Monday we will start practicing with some new players. Playzone are still supporting us, but we are not making our line-up official yet, since we want to get the best possible lineup with hungry players."
