Last Monday saw the announcement of who would be participating in the upcoming Intel Extreme Masters Season Five Shanghai Global Challenge. The competition will see a total of eight teams, with six of them being known and two still to be decided via Chinese regional qualifiers.


The top two placing teams from each group will advance to a single elimination playoff, where each game will be in a best of three format. Eventual winners of the event will receive a prize of $14,000, as well as a secured place in next years World Championships.

The event is scheduled to take place later this month from the 29th of July to the 1st of August at the Shanghai New International Expo Center in Shanghai, China. There is a combined prizepot of $57,000 between the three catered games; Counter Strike, DotA and WarCraft 3, with CS receiving $40,000.
