A new league will be released on the 5th of July to focus on the North American eSports scene.

A new league dedicated to the American eSport Scene has been unveiled by the Electronic Sports League entitled National ESL (NationalESL.com). The league has been developed in preparation for the upcoming Intel Extreme Masters Season 5 and will be launched on Monday the 5th of July.

Taking control will be Trevor 'Midway' Schmidt, who was the founder and former owner of gotfrag.com. Helping him will be John Clark and Steve 'xterm' Devaney who founded and ran AGP Tour, a well known Quake tournament.

"I have been looking for an opportunity to make an impact on eSports in the USA in a way that can be meaningful and help push eSports forward. This is a real opportunity to take advantage of ESL’s success and expand the company into North American eSports and help improve one of the biggest events in the eSports calendar in Intel Extreme Masters for North America."

In addition to the website launch on Monday, information on the Intel Extreme Master’s North American Qualification system will be revealed, as will as the North American LAN Finals and prize money.
