trace: "We simply got better"

ImagemTw's trace talked to HLTV.org about his team's improvement, who he wants to face at ESWC and FX's chances in Paris.

Martin Alexander 'trace' Bang Heldt of DreamHack Summer champions mTw has been interviewed by HLTV.org and explains that his team "simply got better" for the Swedish event.

Asked which elements were key to their victory:

"We simply got better. We got all the tiny bits and pieces to fit together(that sounds really lame), so in every aspect of cs, we improved a lot, and that obviously helped us a lot, not losing one single map. We also won almost all of our pistol-rounds, and that makes it easier - that was something we couldn't manage to do, in all the other events where we placed 2nd and 3rd. We also weren't as unlucky as before!"

On whether winning a tournament shortly before ESWC is a disadvantage due to revealing strategies:

"Maybe a little bit. We have a lot of tactics and we are going to adapt our game depending on who we are facing, so no major changes, but some few tricks as always! One thing is for sure though - We will be at least as prepared as everyone else."

Is there any particular team he hopes to face?

"Not really. I would like to beat Na´Vi, since that is something we haven’t been able to do the times we've met them, but it is not a huge desire of mine! I don't care who we meet, as long as we come out as winners. I think people are rating fnatic and Na´Vi to be the best teams right now, so the best final would probably be against them, and that would also feel great to beat them in a final.

But again, it doesn't matter to me who we face, as long as we are in the final."

mTw began 2010 in poor form as they were the whipping boys of Group A at the IEM IV World Championship, not to mention their showing with ArcadioN at the European Finals. Things turned around as they managed to grab 3rd place at Arbalet Cup Europe and then fully transitioned into their return as contenders with a victory at DreamHack Summer. They are placed in Group D of the first ESWC group stage along with Alternate and eu4ia.

trace joined up with mTw weeks before the WCG Grand Finals in 2009 and helped the team to a Bronze medal in his international debut. When Sunde went on holiday to South America for the rest of the year trace stepped into his AWPing shoes and propelled mTw to back-to-back 2nd places at DreamHack Summer and Arbalet Cup Europe 2009.
