SK Gaming have defeated IEM IV World Champions Na`Vi to progress to the semi-finals. In overtime of the second map it was GuX and walle who elevated their games to seize victory and a semi-final spot.SK Gaming have defeated the IEM IV World and Arbalet Best of Four champions Natus Vincere by two maps to none after a tense double overtime second map. Both maps saw SK going up big only as Terrorists only for Na`Vi to come roaring back on their turn on offense. The second map looking to be heading the Ukrainians' way in overtime until Rasmus 'GuX' Ståhl and Dennis 'walle' Wallenberg took over the game.
Map one
SK Gaming 16:14 Natus Vincere (dust2 - 13:2, 3:12)
First half
Following three kills from face at B on the pistol round SK found themselves on the right track as Terrorists, despite a momentary lapse on the second round which saw them need two GuX and three allen kills to overcome a deagle comeback by Na`Vi. In the 4th round two allen kills accompanied by two walle AWP kills allowed SK to win at A and go up 4:0. That lead continued to be pushed as Na`Vi looked completely out of sorts and were entirely ineffective. Before you knew it the game was 9:0 in SK's favour. The 8th round seeing a successful B attack with two RobbaN and two allen kills.
Na`Vi finally got on the board in the 10th and 11th rounds but then SK ran away with the rest of the half. It was all SK as two face and two walle kills took home the 12th, two GuX and two walle kills took home the 13th and three from allen sealed the 14th. The half ended 13:2 in SK's favour and it looked as though dust2 would be a quick affair.
Second half
Na`Vi continued to lean on Edward for pistol round magic as his three kills along with two from his fellow superstar markeloff gave the Ukrainians the pistol round and kept them from edging closer to the brink of a map loss. Na`Vi then began their own monster run, showing that what's good for the goose is good for the gander. The peeled off 8 Terrorist rounds that half before SK found an answer. The Swedes took the 24th round at A thanks to three kills from face and Na`Vi timing out the round due to taking too long.
That round won only held back the Na`Vi tide for a brief moment as the went on another run, this time winning four in a row. The 25th had them winning in A thanks to two kills apiece from Zeus and Edward, Zeus would contribute two more kills in the 28th also. The score stood at 14:14 and with Na`Vi on the terrorist side it was going to be difficult for SK to pull out a victory. Nevertheless they prevailed as Na`Vi went A in the 29th round and were met by three RobbaN kills and two from allen. In the final round of the map RobbaN popped up once more with three kills as Na`Vi tried their luck at B, looking for a draw but unable to find one.
Map two
SK Gaming 22:20 Natus Vincere (tuscan - 10:5, 5:10, OT1 - 2:1, 1:2, OT2 - 1:2, 3:0)
First half
Despite having scrambled back to pull what was heading for a terrible comeback out of the fire and into a map win SK were not the ones to start the second map strong. Na`Vi got three pistol kills from Zeus and started a five round run, Zeus again being the man in the 4th as he killed two on SK's first buy round. In the 5th SK bought again and starix and markeloff killed four between them evenly.
SK's offensive motor got running and up to speed as they managed to win every remaining Terrorist round to take the half 10:5. Their first round of the map came thanks to three kills from face and two from RobbaN, the hero of dust2's closing stage. RobbaN put up three more the next round, including winning a 1v2 at A. That round was significant as Na`Vi had both of their men at the top of middle and peeked one at a time, allowing RobbaN to take down both and win the round.
As each round went by it would be a different player who would score himself the kills. On the 9th and 13th it was allen with two and three kills. On the 10th, 14th and 15th it was face as he killed two in each round concluding in a 1v2 win at B. On the 11th walle's two entry kill caused three Na`Vi players to save and the SK train rolled along.
Second half
Na`Vi won their second pistol round of the map thanks to three from markeloff, two coming whilst in a 2v3 with starix at A, denying RobbaN's three kills the impact SK desired. After the ecos the Ukrainians had made the score a more manageable 10:8 in SK's favour. SK then pushed it to 12:8 as GuX delivered three kills on the 4th and two on the 5th with Na`Vi working A.
The next four belonged to the Ukrainians as they refused to lie down and die, getting the score to 12:12 and giving themselves a window of opportunity. Zeus had been the main contributor as he killed two at A on the 6th and two again in the same site on the 7th, starix adding two, as Na`Vi hit A for the 4th consecutive round. On the 25th round SK managed to break the A attack and they soon added the 11th as well.
From here the two teams traded a round back and forth as the score went from 14:13 to 15:13. Match point arriving courtesy of three kills from face. Na`Vi had to fight just to tie the game up and stay in the series. This they did as markeloff won a 1v2 at A on the 29th and then starix killed three at A to level the game at 15:15 and send us to overtime.
Overtime 1
First half
The first overtime went SK's way 2:1 with them starting as Terrorists. On the first round they fooled Na`Vi into thinking the bomb had been planted at A when in fact it was at B, which left Na`Vi deciding to save by the time they realised. The lone Na`Vi round win of the half came thanks to two kills from markeloff and two from starix as SK attacked A.
Second half
Na`Vi made their way to A and face and GuX delivered two kills to put SK at match point. It was not to be though for the Swedes at this time and Na`Vi hopped on starix's back as he won a 1v1 against allen at A and then killed three in the last round of the half to tie the game up once more and send us to another overtime, repeating his trick from the end of regulation.
Overtime 2
First half
The second overtime saw Na`Vi take the controlling first half as they won the first round, lost the second due to two walle and GuX kills at A and took the third thanks to another three kill round from starix, this time all headshots.
Second half
Na`Vi were in position to send the series to a third map but at this point GuX and walle stepped up their game to another level, with a little bit of luck along the way. On the first round SK as Terrorists hit A and two kills from GuX and two from RobbaN saw them tie up the map. The second had them attacking A once more and this time a bizarre round saw walle running into the site and shooting his own man at the planting spot at first, then rushing out into middle after a flash had blinded him and everyone else. Here he ran straight past two Na`Vi players, but on regaining his sight he killed the first with AK spray, the second with a deagle, another Ukrainian with a deagle and then finished off the last with his AK to make it match point again.
On the final round walle added three kills to GuX's two and Na`Vi were eliminated from DreamHack Summer. SK Gaming go on to face mTw in the semi-finals, knowing they have a prime opportunity to take an event win with the two pre-event favourites now eliminated.
