rapha will be in attendance at the Devastation event in Phoenix, Arizona this weekend.SK Gaming's Quake Live dueler Shane 'rapha' Hendrixson will be in Phoenix, Arizona this weekend at Devastation, which explains his absence from DreamHack Summer.
He gave SK-gaming.com a short statement on his decision to attend the event:
The event will play host to an array of tournaments including Halo 3, Madden NFL 10, Quake Live, Super Street Fighter IV, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and many more. Check out the schedule here.

"There just happens to be 3 events all going on at the same time from June 18-20; Devastation, DreamHack, and Zero Ping Event over in Canada is what I believe it's called. I wanted to go to Devastastion to try and help the NA scene out a little bit, hope that some of the up and coming players will go, it'd be good for the scene. And I mean I'm going to experience watching a Street Fighter 4 tournament first hand... should be an amazing sight to see =)"

I wonder if this is to do with SK not paying the flight bills or (and this is unlikely) rapha dodging the competition. Seems really strange someone as competetive as rapha who wants to re-establish that he's the best in the scene would dodge a star studded event to go play a bunch of guys he can stomp without trying.
Why travel to Europe when a big tournament is being held on his own turf? Less travel time, and easier money. Maybe SK sent him to Devastation cus its less expensive than Dreamhack. Why send him to Europe weeks in advance, when he is also going to ESWC.
That he wants to re-establish that he is the best is only for himself, in order to keep on top of his game. He doesnt need to prove it yet again to anyone else. He shouldnt have to, with the amount of consecutive titles he has taken. Only for morons like you that dont think, just open their mouths and mindlessly let shit pour out.
