ESL have confirmed the fifth Intel Extreme Masters season, opening up with a Global Challenge in Shanghai. The first details of the fifth Intel Extreme Masters season have surfaced. The announcement comes off the back of a mini-marketing campaign which saw the number 5 appear across the ESL World website and teasing messages being posted on Facebook.
The Shanghai New International Expo Center in China will kick-start the new season with Counter-Strike 1.6, DotA and Warcraft 3 all featuring alongside a $57,000 prize purse.
The tournament will take place from July 29 to August 1, with the winner of the Counter-Strike 1.6 tournament securing themselves a spot at the IEM World Championship in 2011, perhaps a disappointing sign for DotA and Warcraft 3 fans hoping for their title to feature at the culmination of the season.
Furthermore, the IEM Facebook page reads: "This may have not been stated explicitly enough: Season 5's games have not been completely unveiled yet!"
Prize distribution:
Counter-Strike 1.6: $40,000
Defense of the Ancients: $12,000
Warcraft 3: $5,000

they said that they took WoW, cause so many ppl are interested in the game, even if it has a lot of weaknesses in terms of e-sport. i guess sc2 will also attract a LOT of ppl, cause you can understand the game pretty quickly. ofc not every unit/strategie, but everyone played Age of Empires or sth like that...
But i think wow is out for IEM5
