Saturday was a frustrating day for fans of SK Gaming USA. They were nail-bitingly close to making it to bracket play but missed out by just one game. Instead, they had to play through a series of sudden death tie-breakers with other teams in their group. Fortunately, SK managed to pull through in second place, just behind Loaded . They will face the winners of Group B in a few minutes.

The newcomers had a fantastic run, however. Arena Pwnage narrowly lost their first game to Loaded before endeavoring to go on a four-match unbeaten run. The crowning jewel for Arena Pwnage was surely their 3-0 domination of last year's MLG champions, compLexity Black. The triple semi-healer comp just proved to be too durable for coL's damage-centric setup. But in the merry-go-round that equates to MLG's tie-break system they couldn't quite keep up their form from the previous games.

Group B was dominated by compLexity Red. They were undefeated until their final game, which they lost against another newcomer in the shape of Nerdstompers Black. Hoodrych's team barely missed out on qualifying themselves but fnatic wow proved too strong. Fnatic's only loss came at the hands of the group winners and they will now go through to play against Loaded Black in bracket play. As for IEM champions Evil Geniuses , they will be disappointed to go out in the group stage.
