Disconnect issues and problems with the streaming abounded in Columbus in the early hours of this morning. But despite the hitches we were treated to fantastic games right from the start.

Loaded , one of the favourites to win the event, were tested heavily by newcomers Arena Pwnage . The inexperienced team put the veterans 0-2 down before Orange and the team finally got their game on to win three straight maps. So far there have been no other close games. In fact, fnatic wow were the only other victorious team to drop a map on opening night in their 3-1 victory over Nerdstompers Black.

SK Gaming USA were meant to be streamed but MLG only managed to have one game broadcast live. Still, that wouldn't have been a big deal for the players who calved their way through Loaded Blue in three maps. According to GotFrag, SK landed consecutive kills onto the opposing druid in games one and two, but switched to the rogue in game three to round off a solid performance.

Elsewhere, IEM champions Evil Geniuses also swept their first match by 3-0'ing Skill Capped West. Last season's MLG winners, compLexity Black were also in the 3-0 winner's club after they played the local stand-ins. Since a couple of teams didn't show up there will seemingly be two byes per team in group B, as well as one per team in Group A. Also, the substitute team of Furreal in Group A seems unlikely to put up too much resistance if their first match was anything to go by.

Although most of the problems seem to have been ironed out now, there is seemingly still no official match schedule. The stream will begin at 15:00 but which matches are played at what time has yet to be announced.
