With the first event of the season starting next week, MLG releases a preliminary list of attending teams. The Major League Gaming 2010 season kicks off in a week (June 4) in Columbus, Ohio. Today MLG has announced 14 of the 16 teams that will attend, with two slots waiting to be filled.
SK Gaming's US division is on the list alongside IEM world champions, Evil Geniuses and last year's MLG winners, compLexity Black. Former Button Bashers will be the only non-US team at the event, though even they are playing under an American tag these days by the name of Loaded Black. Their team-mates Loaded Blue will also be there after a decent showing at the IEM US regionals last year.
The full list, except the two empty spots, looks like this:
- Nerdstompers Black
- fnatic wow
- compLexity Red
- compLexity Black
- PK Cards
- Evil Geniuses
- Loaded Blue
- Loaded
- Rensy's Team
- Skill Capped US
- Skill Capped International
- Skill Capped West
- Arena Pwnage
- SK Gaming USA
15. TBD
16. TBD
Apart from the obvious big names, perhaps the most interesting teams will be the ones sponsored by tutorial websites. ArenaPwnage.com has one team looking to make a name for itself against the best America has to offer. Skill Capped - a more well known website - will be sending three teams in total, one from each US timezone (West, Central, East). The East team even features ex-SK man, Joe 'Enforcer' Morrone who will bring title-winning credentials to an inexperienced team.
