Blizzard has finally given up on negotiations with KeSPA altogether and found themselves a new partner. One month ago, Blizzard's lengthy negotiations with the Korean eSports Association seemed to have reached an end. Now their relationship seems to be completely over, with Blizzard announcing GOMtv as their new partner for Korean esports.
The disagreement with KeSPA centered around broadcasting rights for Starcraft II tournaments. KeSPA claimed that Blizzard's demands were too great, while Blizzard felt that their IP rights were not being respected. After months of negotiations Blizzard pulled out and is now set to join forces with GOMtv, according to Team Liquid.
Although GOM is slightly less prestigious than KeSPA, they have run some famous tournaments in the past. There WC3 tournament last year was a firm fan favourite, while MSL is a staple league of the SC:BW scene. Some Korean fans (translated by Team Liquid) were upset by the decision, claiming that GOMtv commentators were "retarded." But in the English-speaking world this has always been one of the best things about their events with Tasteless (pictured) casting SC and the much-loved Rotti/Tod combo for WC3. Whether any of these will return is yet to be confirmed, however.
Despite the uncertainty of a new agreement of this magnitude, this has been a good week for Blizzard in Korea. Not only did they find their new coverage partner, but recently they also managed to repeal SC2's 18+ rating in Korea. The American company is rumoured to be allowing other organisations such as OGN and MBCGame to make arrangements with GOMtv. However, "this is not 100% confirmed from the wording of the statements," according to TL.

Still, great news. Long live GOMTV!
Not that both sides are innocent on this, but a solution was needed anyway. It's Kespa's fault for not realizing who had more leverage here.
