The European Console League staff have revealed the distribution of the €29,000 prize fund to be at their inaugural event. It is the highest amount of prize money ever seen at a European Xbox 360 esports competition, and the split has come as a surprise to many.

Both Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3 have been allocated €8,220 apiece, a bold move considering Call of Duty 4 has only just undergone a resurgence courtesy of Modern Warfare 2's flaws while Halo 3 is going through one of its most important and active times.

Over 40 Halo 3 teams have expressed interest for the tournament, a number that hasn't been neared since mid-2008 at the fifth MatchBox XL event.

Call of Duty 4 meanwhile has attracted mediocre attendance at previous LAN events, but it seems to have taken no effect on the event organizers truly who want to unite the competitive European console community.

* Note that the £3,000 is split between Gears of War and Battle Field Bad Company 2, the distribution will be directly based on the amount of teams entering these events. The tournament that brings in the most players will gain a higher percentage of this amount.
