Estars continues with flawed voting system

ImageEstars 2010 will open the polls for its WC3 competition on Monday.

Estars, one of the biggest events on the WC3 calender, has announced the voting list for it's 2010 event. Team East and Team West will be whittled down from ten players each to a squad of three. The community vote will count for 50% of the selection process.

As usual, the qualification system for this event is overly-complicated. The remaining half will be split 30/20 into previous results and committee decision respectively. Exactly how previous results are quantified is unclear, as is the reasoning behind the three-stage system. After the controversy of last year's voting, sticking with the same philosophy seems even more questionable.

On the positive side, however, the ten-strong lists look mightily impressive. Any three players from Team East, in particular, would be a match for most professional teams. The full lists can be seen below:

Voting begins on May 10 and will run through to June 13, with the results being released on June 28. The event itself begins August 13 and lasts a full week.
