Two more names join the list of confirmed players for the DreamHack Summer Quake Live tournament. The DreamHack Summer Quake Live tournament is shaping up to be an exciting one.
Anton 'Cooller' Singov and Tim 'DaHanG' Fogarty have been invited directly to the competition, meaning five out of the top eight from the IEM World Championship Finals will be in action in Sweden from June 19-22 fighting over a €5,000 prize purse. And there are still three invites to go out, as well as four international qualifier winners and three DreamHack LAN qualifiers all earning their spots.
Cooller defeated all but one of the confirmed participants - Cypher - throughout the last season of Quake Live, only losing to noctis, av3k, and rapha. He recently posted up a blog on Facebook telling of his exhausting year and how he had a "very tough time to get back into the professional gaming circuit" despite picking up bronze and silver at the two biggest IEM season 4 events.
The Russian is looking to come back into action minus the potential damage of taking a break. "I will work as hard as for the last tournaments to prepare myself in the best possible way," he says, after listing a selection of tournaments he plans to attend - a list that includes QuakeCon.
After beating rapha at the IEM American Finals in Edmonton, DaHanG had a lot of attention come his way ahead of the IEM World Championship Finals. But defeats to fox, Cypher and rapha ended his hopes of a top three finish at the special tournament.
He crashed out of DreamHack Winter in 2009 thanks to Cooller and placed 5th-8th, a disappointing finish for any professional player. Maybe this DreamHack event will be different for the Team EG star.
Confirmed participants, 10 spaces are still vacant:
Maciej 'av3k' Krzykowski
Pelle 'Fazz' Söderman
Alexei 'Cypher' Yanushevsky
Kevin 'Strenx' Baeza
Anton 'Cooller' Singov
Tim 'DaHanG' Fogarty
