Team Liquid invites the pros of Starcraft 2 to show their skills for the excitement of the community in a 1 day cup, featuring a prize pool of 500 USD, shared by the first three places.Seven years have passed since TeamLiquid.net organised the first cup of this type, that, over the years, became a tradition. Yet again, such a cup is organised but, this time, it’s for the new Blizzard title, Starcraft 2 Wings of Liberty.
The event will happen on Saturday the 27th of March and has a pretty simple description : 16 of the Starcraft 2’s finest, no loser bracket, no second chances.
One of the staff members, riptide, shares some thoughs about this upcoming event :
In his statement, riptide also took the time to share with us the list of invited players and explained why these players were specifically selected for this event.

The total prize pool for this event will be shared by the players on the first three places as follows:
1st Place: 300 USD
2nd Place: 150 USD
3rd Place: 50 USD
As always, the event will be streamed by none other than TeamLiquid.net’s own Sean "Day[9]" Plott, that promises a series of games full of action packed moments provided by SC2’s finest.
Keep an eye out for TeamLiquid.net’s Invitational cup to see the pros in action, and maybe follow their example.

"In the past month, we've seen our share of beta tournaments. Some of us have even played in them. Now, we're carrying the mantle, just like we've done all these years. This first SC2 Invitational is our attempt at putting today's best players out there for people to see. We strongly believe that the timing, the participants and the prize pool is just right and that we will get to see some truly fantastic games next Saturday."

Regarding Lucifron, like Affelina said, he had prior engagements for the time when this event happens as he had to pass.
Its true that it would have been nice to have Luci there. Hes though to be the best terran player on the non-asian servers.
