SK Gaming's rapha talks about his progression from up and coming player to decorated Quake champion in the space of less than two years. The next 1on1 interview subject is SK Gaming's Shane 'rapha' Hendrixson, fresh off his IEM IV World Championship victory. Having won five out of his last six Quake LAN tournaments rapha is at the peak of his game and very different from the unproven up and comer who joined SK a year and a half or so ago. This is one of the first topics to be covered as rapha is asked about his first event for SK, ESWC Masters in Paris.
Why does rapha feel like he needed to experience loss amongst other things at that event? The interview continues on to ESWC in San Jose and rapha again analyses his level of play and his thought processes about himself and what he was capable of. At what point did he know he'd gotten to the top in light of the fact he "always believed" he would get there?
rapha's first victory came in Athens and he talks about the changes made in his game to get him to that point. What did practicing with ZeRo4 and av3k do for him in the earlier part of his career? As a champion rapha helps breakdown and explain the various areas of the game a player must be good at in order to consistently get to the top. Asked to pick three maps for a tournament rapha only selects one currently in the QuakeLive rotation and adds in two from Quake 3's past. Which does he pick and what are his reasons?
