No one would have predicted this was a quarter final encounter at the EM4 World Finals. Both teams were soaring after their previous matches and gunning for the grand final.Natus Vincere 2-0 Evil Geniuses (de_inferno: 16-5, de_train: 16-13)
Natus Vincere's pistol dominance got them off to a flying start on Terrorist side but the first gun round went to the way of Evil Geniuses. The momentum shifted straight back to the European team though and with the assistance of Yegor 'markeloff' Markelov, who was both opening up and defending bomb sites perfectly, began to pull away.
Na'Vi's rotations between the A and B site left Team EG scrambling around to prevent the attacks, and their constant eco and save rounds proved their downfall on the CT side. EG's lack of a solid flow of cash massively hindered their chance to snatch rounds to close the deficit, and they went into a tougher second half 11-4 down.
Two insane pistol rounds from both Tomi 'lurppis' Kovanen and Ioan 'Edward' Sukhariev in the second half provided an entertaining couple of minutes to make up for Na'Vi's first half dominance, but EG's inability to pull a series of rounds together resulted in an easy win for the Ukranians on the first map.
de_train was a much closer affair, and again Yegor 'markeloff' Markelov shined for Na'Vi. His strong AK and AWP play on Terrorist side won his team a host of crucial rounds and the in-game battle with Danny 'fRoD' Montaner ignited, with the Ukranian coming out on top.
Entry fragging from Danylo 'Zeus' Teslenko proved vital for Na'Vi's offensive success, but after an unexpected round went the way of Team EG a midst of consistency came about them as they begun to string together some rounds for the first time in the match. The half ended 8-7 to Na'Vi but Team EG were the ones with the momentum advantage.
But the second half was a continual back and forth fight for control, with neither team managing to secure three rounds in a row. The teams exchanged rounds until the final three rounds where, finally, one team found a surge of energy and transferred it to their game to push for the win. Na'Vi simply had more individual brilliance than Team EG and that is what set them apart.
The Ukranians have booked their place in their first major final and will face either fnatic or SK Gaming, which you can follow here.
