The best team in the world and the IEM champions of Europe faced off on dust2 and despite a dogfight for three quarters of the game it was the Swedes who eventually pulled away for the win.Mousesports came into their matchup with fnatic full of confidence thanks to their three victories but also with a desire to beat the Swedes once more and prove they were more than a one hit wonder at the European Finals. fnatic on the other hand needed to prove they were still the best team in the world and beyond just needing a win to progress knew that if they let another map get away from them against mouz their calibre as the world's best would come under question.
Mousesports 12:18 fnatic (dust2 - 8:7 4:11)
First Half
fnatic began the game up 5:0 and looking solid as terrorists but mouz rallied back and from there on out it was a neck and neck game the whole half through. fnatic would win rounds but then good teamplay from mouz and an ability to consistently execute from fnatic kept the game close. When the teams went to switch over for the second half one could be forgiven for thinking mouz were the ones ready to pull away as they shifted to the more favoured terrorist side on dust2.
Second Half
In fact it was fnatic who ended up pulling away, they traded some rounds but at a favourable ratio for them as big play from GeT_RiGhT helped them push further and further towards that golden 16th round win. When they reached it some of the mouz members were visibly irritated and it seemed less the loss itself than the nature of how it slipped away from the Germans that really ticked them off. Should these two teams meet later in the tournament be prepared for fireworks and have a big bowl of popcorn on standby.
fnatic once again worked their group stage magic and overcame their early failings to progress in a fashion which looks to see them peaking at the right time heading into the playoffs.
