Honour/BG system overhaul coming "soon"

ImageThe honour system is due for an extensive overhaul in an upcoming patch.

The honour gained from battlegrounds is going to undergo some major changes in and upcoming patch. One of the most unexpected is that marks of honour will be a thing of the past: "We feel this currency system is a bit outdated and are getting rid of it," said Zarhym - a Blizzard poster. Battleground gear, or "off items," will be bought purely with honour and the prices will be adjusted.

Battleground queues will also get a makeover, which "will work virtually the same as the Random Dungeon." The first random (aka daily) battleground will award honour equivalent to 30 honour kills for a win and five for a loss. The second random battleground will award 15 for a win, and seemingly zero for a loss. However, these bonuses will not stack with rewards from the "Call to Arms" quests, which will also see some significant changes.

"Call to Arms" will apparently only be available where holiday weekends previously were. Again, winning the first battleground in this fashion will grant 30 HK's worth of honour and subsequent victories will grant 15. Losing will also grant five.

Finally, honour gains will be boosted across the board in order "to bring the rate at which players obtain PvP rewards with Honor more in-line with the rate at which players obtain PvE rewards."

If this all seems somewhat confusing, check out the official thread from the Blizzard forum.
