Orc player who just defeated reign 3-0 to win the latest Zotac. This week's Zotac Cup may have looked like a walkover from the outside but the final games were anything but. Despite a 3-0 scoreline, Du Seop 'WhO' Chang had to work hard for every win. He and his opponent, Tobias 'ReiGn' Muth, produced one of the most entertaining finals the weekly cup has ever seen.
Game one on Twisted Meadows turned into a series of hit-and-run attacks for both players. The elf player did a fine job of defending his one base with a couple of bears while trying to take out Who's first expansion with heroes and dryads. But Who managed to sneak an un-scouted 2nd expansion which proved to be the difference. He was able to produce a steady trickle of units, while Reign was left with just what he had. It was almost enough anyway, but not quite.
Reign swapped to orc for game two and seemed to have the best of the early game. He picked off a few grunts and therefore had a slight exp advantage on his blademaster. But Who's mirror experience shone through as he out-maneuvered the race switcher in the post-tier two fights. Reign lost both his heroes and called "gg" after only nine minutes, despite still having the overall food advantage.
The final map, Terenas Stand, provided the best game of the series. It was similar in fashion to the TM game but featured so many more exciting moves. Some superb use of the teleportation staff helped Reign turn an early disadvantage into an advantage. A moonwell at Who's goblin lab allowed him to staff there, buy a sapper and take out two burrows. But in the end it was orc's superior hit-and-run units that proved to be the difference. Who simply ground out the win with an economic advantage leading to a bigger army.
