Blizzard Entertainment has revealed a new protoss replacement unit for the previously featured sentry from the third battle report.Lately, there has been much discussion about new content presented for StarCraft II. From the incorrect system requirements posted on the Blizzard website to the fan sites receiving invitations, it seems as though the wheels are turning for some major announcements. Now, yet another replacement unit has been unveiled, this time a flyer called the "sentry" is filling the spot of the extremely effective nullifier.
The sentry is a small, hovering ground unit primarily used for enemy attack management and strategic gang coordination. As previously seen as the nullifier, the sentry's standard attack form is a single, linear beam to its target. They are very cheap as far as minerals go, costing only fifty units. However, much like units like the scourge, the sentry's vespene gas cost is exorbient by comparison, at 100 units.
The changes to the replacement for the nullifier, thus far, seem to lie at face value. The "tail" of the unit now curves upwards, which in turn, supports a crystal-clear sapphire bubble, which appears to house a sphere on the inside. The extensions extruding from the front of the unit have been elongated to fit the form of the bubble in a more fluent manner. As far as the effects of the model go, the illuminated areas have now been magnified in their radiance, to give the unit a more flamboyant appearance.
