Replays.net have conducted a revealing interview with the WCG 2009 champion.Interviews with Asian pro gamers can often be fairly tame. But the latest offering from Replays.net is far from dull. The WCG champion, Xuwen 'InFi' Wang spoke candidly about his play style, his heroes and, of course, his WCG victory.
Talking about his techniques, he admitted that he doesn't mind being known as a Tower Demon. "Building towers are needed in some strategic point of view," said the human player. "If i think that helps me to win tournaments I'd gladly do so." The will to win is clearly a driving force behind Infi's form in 2009. "As a progamer I value my results and achievements the most," he admitted.
Unsurprisingly, the Chinese human player sees Xiaofeng 'Sky' Li as his biggest hero. "Sky has always been my most respected mentor," he said. "I don't care who's going to surpass whom or who's going to replace whom, there can only be one Sky." However, he also found time to pay homage to the retired orc player, Liwei 'xiaOt' Sun who he claimed "is more talented than me."
Infi was also quizzed about some of his more controversial statements from the past. He admitted that "I just say things in a straightforward way." But he was less blunt with his comments than in previous interviews. When asked about his famous orc comments he claimed that "I think it was just a mistake." However, he also made a somewhat confusing statement on the same subject: "I was just saying [...] it's easy for an Orc player to have good results. I didn't mean to offend the race or the players of that race."
