natu: "Players are just so much faster"

ImageRecently returned Finnish player natu has been interviewed over at Cadred and talks about his old teams, from his time in 4kings to more recently with Power Gaming.

Famous Finnish player Joona 'natu' Leppänen has been interviewed by Cadred. With natu having just returned to active competitive Counter-Strike after his inactivity during WEM and then the break-up of PowerGaming due to military service the topic unsurprisingly features around his old for most of the interview.

The Soltec player gives his thoughts on Power Gaming's WEM performance without him in China:

"I was very happy for the team and I have absolutely no doubt in my mind we would've done just as great had I been there - something anyone could see if they watched our bracket games at WCG. I just had to make an adult choice of staying home and choosing work over competing - which happened to backfire on me as we´ve been on a strike ever since WEM started."

Asked about how much Counter-Strike has changed in the time he has been playing it he offers this interesting opinion:

"All you need to do is watch demos from 2002-2006 and see how the pace has changed, how many new tricks players have invented and the general level of skill has risen up to completely new heights. It's safe to say that some of the champions of old times would have absolutely no chance against some of the best nowadays - even if they had kept playing. Players are just so much faster than back in the days.

Also you only had a handful of teams that had a chance to the top - now you have maybe five times more teams practicing their hearts out to get up there and who stand a chance."

natu has been playing at the top level of competitive Counter-Strike every single year since 2001 with the exception of 2008 when he was less active and only played in mixteams for events/qualifiers. His successes include a WCG bronze, two CPL 4th places, an NGL-One LAN finals victory and a WSVG title.
