Keep on top of the recent CSPromod beta 1.04 release reviews from Esports sites around the community via this roundup.With CSPromod beta 1.04 set to be released on the 31st of January a number of Esports websites have been granted pre-release access and reviewed the game for their readers. Cadred, HLTV.org and GotFrag have all had staff play the game and then weigh in with their opinions on the difference aspects of it, often referring back to Counter-Strike 1.6 as their main reference point.
SK-gaming.com will have a review of CSPromod beta 1.04 in the upcoming days, prior to its release.
Cadred.org, known largely as a UK-based Counter-Strike:Source community site, came out with a positive review of CSPromod beta 1.04:
HLTV.org, known for providing HLTV servers for tournaments and often the fastest source of news for the European community, was a little more mixed in its review but still found positives in many areas:
GotFrag.com, the largest Counter-Strike community site in the world at one point in time and largely focused around the North American scene for its 7 or so years of life, also found positives in the new release and the general tone of its review was upbeat:
Some observers will be rushing to figure out whether this game means 'the death of Source/1.6' or will represent 'the future of competitive Counter-Strike' and other such fairly redundant soundbyte style points of view. It is perhaps more reasonable for those interested to play CSPromod as a game and judge it accordingly. The future and the past will take care of themselves and few if any community members know the exact reasons why things are the way they are, were the way they were or will be the way they will be.
With the release of CSPromod beta 1.04 only days away the community can decide for themselves what they think soon enough, should they choose to.

"Recoil patterns were going to be a “make or break” deal with Promod. As such I paid particular attention to how the guns reacted when I was firing them. First thing to say will be if this game does take off competitively the days of the CS:S WASDA Warrior will be numbered. The moment you start to spray, or run and shoot, you can forget about accuracy. No more emptying a clip while running backwards, only for the last bullet to snap to the head. Believe me, I tried to recreate that time and time again only to be one-bulleted from the other side of the map. So sure, it’s not like Source, but that doesn’t make it like 1.6, right?
Well, wrong… I spent a good while spraying at walls and having a good look at the recoil patterns, then comparing them to both 1.6 and Source. If it isn’t identical to 1.6 then it’s 99% at least. I couldn’t see or feel a discernable difference with any of the rifles. I spent a good three hours just flicking between the two games and trying to find anything different between the two sets of recoil patterns, but couldn’t. Appreciate though that they are nothing like CS:S and anyone who has spent a while mastering the art of recoil control is going to find that time wasted should they decide to move over.

Playing the two games back-to-back really left me struggling to tell the difference at times and once the models fix come in CSPromod will be more like the game it so desperately wants, and needs, to emulate. But be under no illusions, what it takes from Source is so minimal it is barely worth mentioning. It is everything Source should have been – a graphical improvement of the greatest FPS created and it really is a triumph in that respect, especially if you recall the hideous 1.03 version."

"When it comes to controlling weapons, be it rifles or pistols, it is extremely hard, at least for me, to tell where we stand in CSPromod, given the fact that Source models are still being used. It still looks very weird to shoot and watch my bullets cause a different animation, I can't tell whether I am hitting my target.
Regarding the AWP, I am pretty satisfied with it, and believe it is similar to the one used in 1.6,

All in all, if you take a deep look at Beta 1.04, you can see that there are huge improvements from previous releases, which is normal if you consider it has been almost two years since the last version came out. Still, there are still some things that I think need to be changed before CSPromod can go live.

"The HUD of Promod is the best HUD that I have seen to date. Most GUI's you can install for CS 1.6 or CS:S only change the color or add the background. The Promod HUD is almost fully customizable and offers the player a clear look at their information. It comes with a customizable nade section, removable "players alive" next to the round timer, and an extensive scoreboard to top it all off. The Health, Armor, and Bullets are all easily legible at a glance due to the contrast and colors used.

For some people who switched over to CS:S from 1.6, the one thing you missed was spamming through the walls. CSP has brought back the art of the wall spam. Virtually all of the same spams are available to you in Promod as they are in 1.6. One of the coolest things about spamming also is the fact that once you spam the wall, the bullets go to the farthest point on the other side, and you can see them clearly.

Perhaps the most unconventional but argueably the most important aspect of Promod is that this game is literally a product of the community that will play it. Direct feedback will be at the core of every decision made regarding changes and updates. If a majority of the community is polled and the results point to X change needed with Y gameplay element, so it shall be. If you're having trouble comprehending just how significant of a change this modus operandi represents, try emailing valve to change something with CS."

What does the pro CS players think of this? They should have asked them to review their mod too. Would have had a bigger impact on the community, I guess
Can't really judge the recoil from the videos, we'll see, but it's said in the articles (gotfrag I think) that it isn't the same. And I think a lot of people will have a hard time getting over this, if at all.
CSPromod will be the future competitive Counter-Strike
The fact that CS:S graphics are crappy is a fact acknowledged by the majority of the community.
Why even bother talking about stuff you know nothing about? You'll only embarass yourself.
The models should be fixed in csp 1.05 however, so that's not a point to discuss now. Weapon skins shouldn't and they're worse. Yet again this is not what the game should be about.
I'm as well as Ana really concerned about the recoils, but I would like some pro player to test that instead of a random 15 year old guy that only yesterday managed to get himself a frag on a podbot and is the recoilmaster, a boy that was in fact 5 years old when I first played the damn game.
Oh and btw make a difference between models and graphics retardo

What do I get from that?
Ive played the beta and theyve done a REALLY good job.
Only changes i think they should consider using older looking models, gun models + players.
I think having source model guns makes it look straight away like your playing source, altho i didnt see if this was an option in the hud options!
5 star in my opinion so far
