Tsquared: "Each one of us made mistakes"

ImageThe face of competitive Halo 3, Tom 'Tsquared' Taylor, has been interviewed by Major League Gaming. Coming off a rough 2009 season he discusses what went wrong, his new team-mate and future goals.

In their regular 'Timeout with...' series, Major League Gaming sat down with their superstar Tom 'Tsquared' Taylor to chat about a variety of topics.

At the recent MLG national championship, Tom and his team Str8 Rippin headed in looking to secure back-to-back national championship titles, as well as $100,000. Many fans predicted them along with rivals Triggers Down to be meeting up in the grand final but both faced problems early on, not including Triggers Down's Xbox 360 incident, which they both failed to rectify and crashed out placing in the fifth / sixth bracket.

The depleted morale as well as prize money when compared to the end of 2008 hasn't deterred Tom's plans for 2010, as he sharply says "I'm just going to do whatever I have to do to get ready for next round."

On his new team-mate Richie 'Heinz' Heinz, formerly of Triggers Down, Tom mentions how the team felt a change was needed:

"All four of us want to win, but it just wasn't happening. This is why we felt a change was necessary. We decided it would be in the team's best interest to pick up Heinz, who is an extremely well rounded player. I am confident that this addition to Str8 will bring us back to the dominant play style we are accustomed to."

And regarding the massive surprise that was Believe the Hype winning the tournament:

"I thought they were playing really well. Congratulations to them for winning. This is the first time in seven years I've played in a tournament that no one had any idea who would win it. I thought it was going to be us against Triggers Down in the Finals, but BTH just played really well."

Tsquared's 2009 season kicked off in style as he and MLG struck a deal to get his face printed on 175 million Dr. Pepper bottles. That was eventually eclipsed by a disappointing opening event which saw Str8 Rippin place fourth, only to be quickly amended at the next stop in Columbus, Ohio, where they took first place.

From thereon though his season went downhill as the team failed to win another event in the year, while Triggers Down shot to success by becoming the first Halo 3 team to win back-to-back tournaments. Both squads however massively underperformed at the national championships and ended their 2009 campaigns on a low note.

Str8 Rippin's team change has resulted in a bunch of follow-up transfer rumours, and going by them 2010 should be exciting to say the least.
