The NATE MSL final will be played in a virtual studio and transmitted to a crowd of only 1,000 who will only be made up of those closest to the players as well as fan club members. With fans and players alike practically quivering with joy over the prospect of the upcoming NATE MSL final, to be played tomorrow, which will feature the two best players in the world, Jae Dong 'Jaedong' Lee and Young Ho 'Flash' Lee, going head-to-head for the title it seems there is a twist to the plot which will upset some if not many.
The NATE MSL final will be played in a 'Virtual Studio', meaning the players will not be in front of the crowd in the arena or able to hear their cries and chants. While this decision was apparently made long before MBCGame were aware of who would be playing in their final it has caused a backlash from the StarCraft spectator community.
This MSL final on paper has the potential to produce the best Starleague final ever played in StarCraft's history, with the hottest player in the world right now meeting the strongest player in the world for the past two years. MSL has always suffered somewhat from not being able to attain the full prestige that the OSLs have, and with the EVER OSL packing in thousands and thousands of fans to watch their final (with a lesser card) this is a decision which may damage MSL as their dream lineup will be played out under unique circumstances and with only 1,000 spectators at the venue.
What's more of those 1,000 spectators 300 will be friends, family and team-mates and the other 700 will be fan club members of the two players. It had always been a key element of Starleague finals that they were played in front of a live audience, just as with real sports, so that nerves could affect inexperienced players and the legendary players could rise to the moment. Whether this situation will put a damper on the action or how this MSL is remembered remains to be seen.
